Job Summary

The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in maintaining a well-organized and adequately stocked patient care unit. This position assists the nursing staff in meeting patient needs by providing high-level clerical and technical support. The ideal candidate will develop intra-interdepartmental relationships that support nursing maintenance of the patient care environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform specimen collection, including venipuncture, and basic level lab testing
  • Obtain patient vital signs and prepare patients to see providers
  • Provide clerical and technical support to the Healthcare Center Office
  • Maintain medical records in a confidential manner
  • Provide customer-friendly, courteous reception to clients and customers at all times
  • Work well in a team environment and possess excellent customer service skills with the ability to multitask
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior experience working in a hospital environment or physician practice preferred
  • Must be a graduate from a Medical Assistant program or graduate from an MA program within a year of employment
  • Passing of MA certification exam within 6 months of hire, eligible for MA II promotion and hire bonus
Physical Requirements

The position is located indoors under normal working conditions. The ideal candidate should be able to push/pull 25 lb., lift/move 15 lb. from floor to table, and perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing, and filing for extended periods of time.

Salary Range

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
