Position Overview
- The Rehabilitation Physical Therapist 1 engages in professional practice by delivering physical therapy interventions within a rehabilitation setting.
- This role involves executing a comprehensive array of physical therapy techniques, adhering to physician directives while integrating clinical expertise with foundational rehabilitation principles.
- Responsibilities include formulating therapy plans, assessing patient progress, adjusting treatment strategies, and documenting clinical findings.
- Therapists in this role will work across various modalities, clinics, and hospital environments, addressing a wide spectrum of patient needs.
- Additionally, this position includes mentoring Physical Therapy Aides.
- Professional judgment is essential for creating and modifying treatment plans and evaluating patient progress.
- Conducts evaluations and provides tailored treatment to each patient based on their unique requirements, including diagnosis, age, and medical history.
- Designs and implements effective physical therapy care plans, adapting them as necessary to reflect changes in patient status.
- Maintains accurate documentation of patient evaluations, daily progress, and care plans within established timelines.
- Completes billing documentation for assigned patients at the end of each workday.
- Collaborates as an integral member of the rehabilitation team, participating in rounds and family meetings with professionalism and organization.
- Accurately measures patients and manages the checkout of therapeutic equipment, ensuring timely and efficient use.
- Creates educational materials and programs tailored to patient and staff needs.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the safe and effective use of therapeutic devices.
- Participates in departmental training and meetings to stay informed about policies and procedures.
- Assists in supervising and coordinating the educational experiences of physical therapy students.
- Conducts thorough evaluations, including patient history and physical assessments.
- Administers a variety of therapeutic modalities and exercises.
- Engages in therapeutic recreational activities, considering patient interests and age.
- Contributes to quality improvement initiatives within the department.
- Maintains awareness of patient growth and development principles.
- Recognizes and addresses the psychosocial needs of patients while providing guidance on therapeutic exercises.
- Participates in clinical research aimed at enhancing patient care.
- Upholds professional conduct towards patients, colleagues, and visitors.
- Adheres to all unit-specific policies and procedures.
- Exhibits behaviors that reflect our core values of service excellence.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Typically requires 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
Education
A Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy and completion of an accredited internship program are mandatory.
Licensure
A valid Florida Physical Therapist license is required. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association and any other relevant life support certification must be obtained upon hire and maintained throughout employment.
