Role Summary:

Soliant Education is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support the communication needs of deaf and hard-of-hearing students in an educational setting. The ideal candidate will be fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate interpretation of spoken language into sign language and vice versa, ensuring effective communication for students.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to support students during lessons, activities, and school events.
  • Work one-on-one with students to ensure they understand instructional content and can express their needs and thoughts.
  • Educate staff and peers about deaf culture and the importance of inclusivity.
  • Partner with other professionals to develop strategies that enhance student engagement and learning.

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Previous experience interpreting in educational settings is preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and staff.
  • A compassionate and student-centered mindset focused on promoting accessibility and inclusivity.
