Position Overview

Project Focus:

The intern will be an integral part of the global R&D division at Imerys Performance Minerals, contributing to the advancement of our understanding of mineral-based solid/liquid separation techniques. The role involves working with a variety of clear fluids, including edible oils and beverages, which are typically filtered using our mineral products. The intern will engage with a dedicated project team, focusing on specific customer needs or manufacturing processes.

Project Goals and Responsibilities:

Despite the long-standing use of minerals in filtration, our clients continually present new challenges that require innovative solutions. One of the key projects involves the development of a novel absorbent filtration system designed to improve the purification of renewable diesel feedstocks. Interns will spend approximately 70% of their time actively engaged in laboratory work, executing experimental designs to modify the physical and chemical characteristics of filter aids and assessing their performance in various tests. The remaining 30% will be dedicated to experimental planning and data interpretation.

The expected outcome is a detailed research report accompanied by a presentation, demonstrating a clear structure-property relationship between prototype materials and customer specifications.

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for visa sponsorship
  • A willingness to undergo a drug screening and background check
