Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Administration Specialist to join our team at the University of Texas at Austin. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support to faculty, researchers, and principal investigators in the preparation and submission of research proposals, as well as managing research accounts and financial reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist faculty and researchers with proposal development, including budget preparation and justification, and review of proposal documents for formatting and content.
  • Coordinate with sub-award organizations to ensure timely receipt of required documents.
  • Monitor and reconcile research accounts, and distribute financial reports to principal investigators as needed.
  • Analyze and interpret budgetary financial data to advise faculty on strategic fund use.
  • Process post-award modifications, including no-cost extensions, cost transfers, and budget adjustments.
  • Process invoices, reimbursements, and travel authorization requests for sponsored funds.
  • Collaborate with faculty, department staff, and external stakeholders to resolve research administration issues.
  • Provide human resources support for sponsor-funded student and staff positions, and process tuition reduction benefits.
  • Stay current with UT, local, state, and federal guidelines, regulations, and electronic submission requirements.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of research administration principles and practices, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
