About the Role

Silfex, Inc. is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for operating 5-axis CNC machines to produce high-quality silicon components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate 5-axis CNC machines to accurately machine parts per work instructions and manufacturing plans.
  • Perform quality inspections to ensure accurate production of parts throughout the process.
  • Handle parts and materials with care, maintaining cleanliness to ensure quality of product and condition of equipment.
  • Proactively support work of department and team by maintaining communication through Teams and participating in shift change meetings.
  • Accurately record and interpret production information in PLEX, including verifying track numbers, substitute part revision, and machine downtime.
  • Utilize systems to document and review information, including maintenance dispatch, completed Preventative Maintenance, and document measurement scans.
  • Produce parts according to standards by utilizing production documentation, correctly loading and unloading parts on machine, and verifying part orientation.
  • Perform assigned preventative maintenance and maintain coolant lines and nozzle positioning.
  • Set up machines for production to ensure they're operating correctly.
  • Assist in applying lean manufacturing concepts and 5S, demonstrating ownership of continuous improvement ideas and activities.
Requirements
  • Minimum of High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of CNC Machining experience on 3 or 5 axis CNC machines.
  • Must have machine control experience.
  • Must have shop math skills.
  • Microsoft Office experience (specifically Excel).
  • Knowledge of 5S and Lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Understand tool and machine offsets as well as how to read machine programs.
  • Capable of applying standard practices and techniques within their work.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Quality and safety minded.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certificate from Technical School or Trade School.
  • Knowledge of GD&T.
  • Experience machining Si, glass or other brittle material.
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and; talk or hear.

The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds. The employee regularly is required to lift up to 25 pounds. The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the environment is moderate.
