Position Overview

A high level of independence is essential, alongside a passion for being part of a collaborative team committed to delivering exceptional legal support to our internal stakeholders. Comfort with ambiguity and a proactive approach are key attributes for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the drafting, structuring, and negotiation of intricate commercial agreements with a variety of clients and partners, including automotive OEMs and innovative AV startups.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the executive team on legal issues crucial to the company's expansion.
  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration with various departments (e.g., Sales, Finance, Product, Engineering) to spearhead essential initiatives.
  • Assist with matters related to Intellectual Property, Product, and Compliance as required.
  • Develop templates, guidelines, and training materials to enhance consistency, speed of execution, risk management, and scalability.
  • Establish and implement efficient legal operations processes, programs, and tools to support the legal team's service delivery to the organization.
  • Proactively address additional responsibilities that may arise within a small legal team in a high-growth start-up.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in structuring, drafting, and negotiating complex commercial contracts, including software licenses and strategic partnerships.
  • Expertise in negotiating and drafting IP and material contract representations in stock purchase, merger, and asset purchase agreements.
  • Adept at thriving in a fast-paced, sales-driven environment, showcasing exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting strict deadlines.
  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active membership in a state bar.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in both law firm and in-house settings.
  • Background in computer science or engineering.

The compensation range for this role is $180,000 - $250,000 USD annually. This range is an estimate, and actual compensation may vary based on the company's compensation policies.
