Job Overview

Role Purpose:

The Fleet Mechanic is tasked with performing repairs and maintenance as directed by the Shop Manager. This role requires a commitment to the mission, vision, and core values of NHT Logistics, ensuring all work aligns with these standards.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair issues related to electrical, mechanical, air, and hydraulic systems.
  • Assess equipment for safety concerns.
  • Become proficient in Emdecs Kona fleet management software.
  • Document work performed and repairs made on equipment.
  • Utilize tools safely and effectively.
  • Employ lifting equipment and jack stands properly.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace.
  • Adapt to changing work schedules and urgent situations.
  • Work independently within the shop environment.
  • Stay updated on new service, maintenance, and repair techniques.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience is required. Previous experience as a Mechanic is essential, along with a foundational knowledge of diesel and trailer mechanics.


Skills and Attributes:
  • Effective communication skills for understanding training materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret maintenance instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Competence in writing routine reports and correspondence.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

The Fleet Mechanic position may involve extended periods of standing and the ability to lift heavy objects, up to 50 lbs. The work environment can be busy and noisy, requiring excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects and frequent interruptions.


Work Schedule:

This position operates Monday through Friday, with shifts available from noon to 8:00 pm, midnight to 8:00 am, or 4:00 pm to midnight.
