Trial Attorney

The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking a highly skilled Trial Attorney to join its Conciliation Unit. Located in the nation's capital, OAG is the chief legal office of the District of Columbia, responsible for enforcing the District's laws and protecting its residents.
The successful candidate will represent the District of Columbia in child support litigation, focusing on facilitating the initial entry of parentage and support consent orders. With a strong background in law and a minimum of 1 year of specialized experience, the ideal candidate will be able to review information, interview witnesses, and prepare written documents and court papers.
Key Responsibilities- Represent the District of Columbia in child support litigation
- Facilitate the initial entry of parentage and support consent orders
- Review information, interview witnesses, and prepare written documents and court papers
- Negotiate resolution of cases and determine when continued proceedings are no longer in the best interest of the District of Columbia
- Perform all functions related to case and calendar management, including pretrial, motion, and trial scheduling
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school at the time of appointment
- Minimum of 1 year of specialized experience in child support litigation
- Active membership in good standing of the District of Columbia Bar or ability to waive in and be admitted within 360 days of appointment
The work is primarily performed in an office setting, with some walking, handling, and carrying of light to moderately heavy objects required.
