  • Development Deals: Draft and negotiate development deals, including franchised and managed properties, in collaboration with the Hotel Development team and other internal stakeholders.
  • Day-to-Day Support: Provide day-to-day legal support to the Hotel corporate teams on owner-related issues and general legal matters arising from hotel operations.
  • Legal Guidance: Offer hospitality legal and industry advice on corporate hotel initiatives, including brand standards, reporting, hotel openings, and exits.
  • Compliance: Collaborate with the compliance function in probity and due diligence processes.
  • Training and Development: Train Corporate/Development Executives and Hotel Operators on hotel-level issues, including the revision of major hotel contracts and the explanation of principal hotel agreements.
  • Outside Counsel Management: Source, onboard, and manage outside counsel as agreed with the senior Legal team.
Qualifications
  • Education: Juris Doctor degree from a U.S. law school.
  • Admission: Admission and in good standing to one or more U.S. state bars.
  • Experience: A minimum of 8 years of legal experience, with at least 5 years of international hospitality practice in-house, including work in both development and operations support.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, and/or other major European or Asian languages.
  • Industry Knowledge: Expertise on hospitality industry main business models and trends, as well as a working knowledge of financial and tax factors influencing hotel and international franchising and management business.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with quick deadlines and multiple demands.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including legal drafting skills, with the ability to summarize and translate main issues of any matter for discussion with lawyers and non-lawyers.
  • Influencing Others: Ability to influence others by developing strong working relationships and delivering excellent commercial solutions to complex legal and regulatory issues.
Work Environment
  • Location: The role is based in the Davie, FL corporate office.
  • Travel: Some domestic and international travel is required.
  • Work Environment: Duties and responsibilities are typically performed in a professional office setting, but there may be times where you will need to be in operating areas, which may expose you to environmental factors such as secondhand smoke and excessive noise.
