Successful candidates will support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) in its mission to develop and implement a comprehensive Missile Defense System (MDS) to protect the United States and its allies from missile threats throughout all flight phases.
Key Responsibilities:
Selected candidates will provide technical assistance for MDA Innovation, Science, and Technology (DV). The MDA/DV team is dedicated to delivering cutting-edge concepts and technologies that will advance the missile defense system and stay ahead of emerging threats.
We seek highly motivated engineers to assist in rapid prototyping for sensors and space technologies. Areas of focus will encompass a broad spectrum of technologies, including but not limited to: RF and EO/IR sensors, asymmetric technologies, electronic warfare, high power microwave, and cyber capabilities.
Specific Duties Include:
- Engaging in MDS program and technical initiatives, including technology assessments, demonstrations, risk management, and planning for future capabilities and emerging technologies.
- Conducting independent evaluations of the relevance and value of new concepts and technologies for the MDS, performing gap analyses, and aiding MDA Directorates in resource planning for advancing technology.
- Contributing to program and technical efforts for advanced research on future MDS capabilities, emerging technologies, and products.
- Providing subject matter expertise to explore innovative and/or emerging capabilities that could enhance the MDS.
Basic Qualifications:
To qualify, candidates must possess:
- A bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as engineering, mathematics, physical sciences, or computer science.
- A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in a technical field related to missile defense and/or technical analysis of complex Department of Defense (DoD) weapon systems.
- Eligibility for obtaining or holding an active SECRET clearance, with the capability to secure TS/SCI clearance.
- The ability to work on-site as required.
Failure to meet any of these qualifications will disqualify applicants from consideration.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to work independently and/or lead sub-teams, applying engineering principles to analyze and resolve challenges.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with proficiency in MS Office tools.
- Experience analyzing MDS elements or components, including Infrared (IR) or Radio Frequency (RF) sensor systems, missiles, space systems, communications systems, and missile tracking systems.
- Preferred candidates will have experience in conducting complex analytical studies, developing analysis tools, and assessing advanced concepts and technologies.
- Familiarity with DoD technology policies and strategies.
- Experience with DoD Budget Planning and Programming.
- Knowledge of MDA Systems Engineering processes.
- Experience in research and development for relevant technologies.
