Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Shipfitter to join our team at LEAD Staffing. As a leading national skilled trade organization, we offer great benefits and opportunities for growth.

This role involves accurately interpreting technical drawings and specifications to determine the layout, dimensions, and placement of structural components on the ship. You will be responsible for cutting, shaping, and forming steel plates and structural shapes using various metalworking tools.

The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of machinist experience, knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items for the position and trade, and strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of basic geometry. Proficiency in various welding techniques and processes is also required.

We estimate the salary for this role to be around $60,000-$80,000 per year, depending on experience and location.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately interpret technical drawings and specifications to determine the layout, dimensions, and placement of structural components on the ship.
  • Cut, shape, and form steel plates and structural shapes using various metalworking tools.
  • Precisely measure and mark locations on the ship's hull and interior to ensure proper alignment and fit components.
  • Position, align, and tack weld metal components together to build sub-assemblies and install them on the ship.
  • Perform welding operations to join metal parts, often requiring proficiency in various welding techniques and processes.
