Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our high-performing transportation team at our Distribution Center in Tracy, CA. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance on diesel tractors, trailers, and trailer refrigeration units, as well as troubleshooting and repairing equipment problems.
Main Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance on diesel tractors, trailers, and trailer refrigeration units to ensure optimal performance and extend equipment lifespan.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems, using electronic diagnostics and welding skills as needed.
- Provide assistance to drivers experiencing equipment failure while on the road, ensuring timely resolution and minimizing downtime.
- Maintain and repair all equipment, including engines, starting and charging systems, cooling systems, electrical systems, body, wheels, brakes, and suspension.
- Ensure a safe work environment by following all company procedures and protocols.
- Perform all job duties with honesty and integrity, upholding the highest standards of professionalism and work ethic.
- Prior experience as a Diesel Mechanic or combination of formal/technical education and directly related experience.
- Experience in electronic diagnostics and welding.
- Experience in engine diagnostics specifically as relates to heavy equipment.
- Experience in welding of suspension systems as relates to heavy equipment.
- Must be 18 years of age or older, with a valid driver's license.
- Current CDL license (preferred)
- Must supply own tools up to 1 1⁄4 size with the proper toolbox, including pneumatic tools.
- Ability to reach, lift, and work objects weighing up to 100 lbs. Ability to push and pull heavy equipment.
- Manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and high places.
- Ability to stand, walk, and work in close quarters, prone and awkward positions for lengthy periods occasionally.
- Mental alertness and good vision are necessary to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities.
- Exposure to hazards exists with respect to equipment, work areas, tools, welding equipment, presses, and other power equipment.
- Must be able to work full-time.
