Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our transportation team at our Tracy, CA Distribution Center. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance on diesel tractors, trailers, and trailer refrigeration units, as well as troubleshooting and repairing equipment problems.

Main Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on diesel tractors, trailers, and trailer refrigeration units.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems.
  • Answer drivers' telephone requests for assistance with equipment failure while out on the road.
  • Maintain and repair all equipment, including engines, starting and charging, cooling, electrical, body, wheels, brakes, and suspension.
  • Follow all company procedures and ensure a safe work environment.
  • Responsible for performing all job duties with honesty and integrity.

Requirements

  • Prior experience as a Diesel Mechanic or combination of formal/technical education and directly related experience.
  • Experience in electronic diagnostics and welding.
  • Experience in engine diagnostics specifically as relates to heavy equipment.
  • Experience in welding of suspension systems as relates to heavy equipment.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older, with a valid driver's license.
  • Current CDL license (preferred).
  • Must supply own tools up to 1 1⁄4" size with the proper toolbox, including pneumatic tools.
  • Ability to reach, lift, and work objects weighing up to 100 lbs. Ability to push and pull heavy equipment.
  • Manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and high places.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work in close quarters, prone and awkward positions for lengthy periods occasionally.
  • Mental alertness and good vision are necessary to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities.
  • Exposure to hazards exists with respect to equipment, work areas, tools, welding equipment, presses, and other power equipment.
  • Must be able to work full-time.
