Your Role: As a Senior Homeowner Claims Field Adjuster, you will gather and document essential loss information from policyholders. Under guidance, you will investigate, assess, negotiate, and resolve homeowners' property and personal property claims, which may involve varying levels of complexity requiring physical inspections. You will be responsible for all claims assigned at the Field Examiner level, with an expectation to advance to the competency level of a Level 5 Homeowner Adjuster. You may also oversee independent adjuster assignments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough investigations and evaluations of property loss claims of moderate to high severity, both in-person and virtually.
- Engage with policyholders or third parties to photograph and inspect damaged properties.
- Determine the scope of necessary repairs and prepare repair estimates using the Xactimate estimating system.
- Negotiate repair costs with policyholders and contractors.
- Ensure the repair process is completed satisfactorily.
- Collaborate with experts to thoroughly investigate and identify the cause of losses.
- Finalize settlements and disburse payments for dwelling or structure damages after completing coverage analysis.
- Manage all correspondence to maintain regulatory compliance.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or GED is required; a bachelor's degree or a combination of education and experience is preferred.
- A minimum of four years of claims experience is necessary, with a focus on homeowner claims preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in basic mathematics and computer skills, with a typing speed of at least 30 words per minute.
- Demonstrated customer service capabilities.
- Experience with multiple homeowner state policies and an understanding of fair claims settlement practices and building codes is advantageous.
- Familiarity with the Xactimate repair estimating system.
- Prior experience conducting field inspections.
- Knowledge of home construction practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Active participation in shaping company culture through involvement in employee resource groups and community service.
- Willingness to engage in video communication when necessary for onboarding and relationship building.
- Flexibility to travel as required for the role, including local travel and occasional team meetings.
- Commitment to fulfilling business needs, which may involve additional time and support for other teams.
