Position Overview
The Employment Support Specialist plays a crucial role in providing employment assistance to adults with developmental and other disabilities through various state partnerships. This position at The Opportunity Tree (TOT) demands a passionate and adaptable individual. The Employment Support Specialist will be responsible for designing, implementing, and delivering employment support services while promoting awareness and education about available resources, in alignment with TOT's mission, vision, and values.
Service Overview
Supported Employment Services offer job assistance to adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities across multiple contracts in various locations. These services encompass Transition to Employment, Pre-Employment Transition Services (PreETS), Career Preparation Readiness, Job Development & Retention, Individual Supported Employment, and Employment Supports. The primary goal is to aid individuals in securing and maintaining competitive integrated employment.
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with clients to navigate the job discovery process, including brainstorming, applying, interviewing, and securing job placements tailored to individual preferences and needs.
- Deliver personalized, direct services to individuals with disabilities to facilitate their journey towards competitive integrated employment through skill development and job placement assistance.
- Provide ongoing support to clients placed in competitive integrated employment to enhance job retention and stability.
- Assist clients in cultivating positive work habits, attitudes, skills, and workplace etiquette, fostering inclusion and independence in their roles.
- Offer tailored instruction and training to promote skill enhancement for competitive integrated employment.
- Maintain accurate records and reporting as required, ensuring timely submission of individualized reports per service contracts.
- Enhance client opportunities for success in competitive integrated employment through employment-related activities.
- Conduct relevant assessments to identify client strengths and capabilities.
- Collaborate with the client's planning team to create an Individualized Training Agreement that respects the client's preferences and advocates for their goals.
- Set individualized objectives with actionable strategies and progress assessment methods to support clients in achieving competitive integrated employment.
- Collect and manage data related to client employment, including tracking wages and benefits.
- Ensure services are culturally relevant and linguistically appropriate, making communication accessible.
- Build relationships with employers to facilitate job matches that align with client goals and strengths.
- Engage with community networks, including schools, state agencies, and employers, to enhance support for clients.
- Provide coaching support to clients in community job placements.
- Represent The Opportunity Tree in client team meetings, maintaining proactive communication with clients and their support teams to ensure program success.
- Collaborate effectively with the Supported Employment Services team.
- Adhere to TOT policies and maintain all data systems.
- Advocate for clients to ensure individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities have a voice.
- Foster a positive work environment and collaborative relationships with clients, staff, families, and various stakeholders.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of clients while complying with safety standards.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding client information and organizational matters.
- Promote a respectful and collaborative work environment with all stakeholders.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
- Meet AZ-DPS requirements for Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Complete all required training, including CPR and First Aid.
- Experience or training in disability awareness, including various disabilities.
- Experience in identifying strengths and capabilities of individuals with disabilities.
- Knowledge of strategies for achieving successful employment outcomes for individuals with disabilities.
- Experience in work readiness and employability skills.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification as an Employment Support Professional (CESP) or ACRE Certified.
- Experience in supporting individuals in obtaining and maintaining competitive integrated employment.
- Familiarity with navigating state agencies and providing state-funded services.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Vocational Counseling, Psychology, Special Education, or Social Work.
