Culinary Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Cook to join our team at the MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility in Woodburn, Oregon. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving wholesome, enticing meals to our residents. This is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young people and contribute to their rehabilitation.

• Prepare and cook meals for residents, adhering to state and federal regulations.
• Train and oversee youth engaged in vocational food-related work experience programs.
• Ensure proper transportation of residents and maintain a safe and secure environment.
• Control behavior of youth in the kitchen and maintain positive communications with youth, kitchen staff, and administration.
• Work independently to cook, prepare, and coordinate meals, adjusting menus and recipes as needed.
• Perform daily cooking tasks, provide instructions, and make preparations using various equipment.
• Maintain health and sanitation standards in food preparation and kitchen area.

• One year of experience as a cook in a food service facility or possession of a Certificate of Completion in culinary arts and/or Foods and Hospitality Service from a certified community college or technical school.
• Ability to obtain a food handler's card within 30 days of hire.

• A competitive salary range of $3,218.00 - $4,755.00 monthly ($18.57 - $27.43 hourly non-PERS) or $3,427.00 - $5,086.00 monthly ($19.77 - $29.34 hourly PERS).
