About the Role

The Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty.

  • Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
  • Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patient for therapeutic response and notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
  • Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized respiratory care plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure seamless delivery of respiratory care services.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory care interventions.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families to promote self-management of respiratory conditions.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance respiratory care services and patient outcomes.
Requirements
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT / RCP) certification.
  • State Registered Respiratory Therapist.
  • Associate Degree or Bachelor's Degree.
