Job Title: English Language Arts Teacher-Sr High

Wichita Public Schools is seeking a highly qualified English Language Arts Teacher to join our team at the senior high school level.

Job Summary:

The English Language Arts Teacher will be responsible for teaching and facilitating learning, maintaining academic progress, discipline, and records for students at the high school grade level. The successful candidate will work with parents and students to provide and implement classroom education to meet the needs of all students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Instructs through lectures, discussions, and demonstrations in one or more subjects such as English, mathematics, or social studies.
  • Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicates those objectives to students.
  • Collaborates and communicates with staff to meet the educational needs of students.
  • Creates, administers, and grades tests to evaluate student progress.
  • Establishes and enforces rules and procedures to maintain order in the classroom.
  • Observes, evaluates, and prepares reports on the progress of students. Discusses students' problems and progress with parents and staff.
  • Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
  • Prepares classroom instructions to promote students' success on state assessment exams.
  • Observes, enforces, and is directed by the policies, rules, and regulations adopted by the school district.
Additional Duties:

The successful candidate will assist with additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Requirements:
  • Current Kansas State teaching license.
  • English Language Arts endorsement required.
