Nurse Practitioner

This position is responsible for providing expert medical care to patients with a range of potential illnesses, injuries, or disabilities. The Nurse Practitioner will conduct routine physical examinations on patients of all ages, referring patients to medical specialists or counseling services, and prescribing medication based on the patient's conditions.
The ideal candidate will have a medical degree from an accredited university, board certification in family practice, emergency medicine, or other ABMS recognized specialty, and federal and Colorado State licensure (APN, RXN, DEA). They will also have BLS Certification, understanding of medical coding and billing, and knowledge of relevant drugs, their chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical process and transformations they undergo.
The Nurse Practitioner will work under the supervision of a Physician and will be responsible for conducting health assessments, selecting, ordering, performing, and interpreting tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient conditions and augment physical findings. They will also discuss and explain treatments and medications thoroughly with patients and authorized representatives, advising them of all side effects, and reviewing all allergy information is current prior to prescribing any medication or treatment.
The successful candidate will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathize and effectively communicate with patients, their families, and staff. They will also have the ability to multitask, work under stress in emergency situations, meet deadlines, and frequently handle interruptions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct health assessments and select, order, perform, and interpret tests, analyses, and diagnostic images.
- Discuss and explain treatments and medications with patients and authorized representatives.
- Prescribe and administer vaccinations and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness and injury.
- Perform non-emergency procedures, including laceration repairs, abscess incision and drainage, ear irrigation, minor burn care, splinting, wart removal, and minor wound care.
- Provide referrals to medical specialists and counseling services.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of patient care and treatment.
Requirements:
- Medical degree from an accredited university.
- Board certification in family practice, emergency medicine, or other ABMS recognized specialty.
- Federal and Colorado State licensure (APN, RXN, DEA).
- BLS Certification.
- Understanding of medical coding and billing.
- Knowledge of relevant drugs, their chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical process and transformations they undergo.
Working Conditions:
The work environment is indoors in an office/medical clinic setting. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, moving equipment, and other conditions common to a medical clinic environment. Requires working under stress in emergency situations, meeting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and occasionally may involve irregular working hours.
