Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at US Oncology Network-wide Career Opportunities. As a Pharmacy Technician - Admixture Specialist, you will play a critical role in the preparation and distribution of medications in our clinic admixture room.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the preparation of medication orders by compounding or admixing medications under the supervision of a physician.
  • Verify patient information and proper physician authorization.
  • Under direct supervision, admix drugs as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner as per department guidelines.
  • Calculate correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents.
  • Assist in counting controlled drugs weekly and maintain records.
  • Properly dispose all materials used when mixing chemo or non-chemo IVs.
  • Assist in cleaning hoods daily and checking drugs monthly for outdates and other quality assurance activities as assigned.
  • Assist in keeping accurate temperature logs, accurate logs on all protocol drugs and patient assistance drugs.
  • Maintain proper control documentation of medications including lot numbers.
  • Provide support with inventory control of medications.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Entry level to three years experience in a pharmacy.

Physical demands of this job typically require full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination and the ability to read and note appropriate measurements. Requires sitting/standing for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
