We are seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team at Lewis-Gale Medical Center. As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will provide occupational therapy services to our patients, utilizing therapeutic modalities, exercises, and other treatment skills as directed by the primary Occupational Therapist.
Responsibilities- Communicate the patient's condition and progress with the Occupational Therapist, as well as document patient's treatment and status.
- Prepare patient for treatment as requested by the Occupational Therapist.
- Address and review all goals in the plan of care with Occupational Therapist and patient.
- Treat patients according to plan using conventional treatments methods using therapeutic modalities, while also applying critical thinking skills and potential alternatives to recommend to primary physical therapist.
- Use available and additional resources to reinforce patient related education or instructions and home exercise program.
- Graduation from an accredited COTA Program.
- License to practice as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in Virginia.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- One year of experience preferred.
