Hematology Opportunity at Houston Methodist

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Benign Hematologist to join our healthcare team at Houston Methodist. The ideal candidate will specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of non-malignant blood disorders.

Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and manage benign hematologic conditions such as anemia, clotting disorders, hemophilia, sickle cell disease, and other non-cancerous blood disorders.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history review, physical examinations, and interpretation of laboratory results.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on the latest clinical guidelines and patient-specific factors.
  • Prescribe and monitor medications, including anticoagulants, iron supplements, and other therapies relevant to benign hematologic conditions.
  • Perform procedures such as bone marrow biopsies, blood transfusions, and other diagnostic or therapeutic interventions as needed.
  • Educate patients and their families about their conditions, treatment options, and strategies for managing symptoms and improving quality of life.
  • Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including primary care physicians, nurses, and specialists, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in hematology through continuous education and participation in research initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care and outcomes within the hematology department.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of a residency program in Internal Medicine or a related field.
  • Completion of a fellowship in Hematology or Hematology/Oncology, with a focus on benign hematologic conditions.
  • Valid medical license to practice in TX.
  • BC/BE in Hematology.
  • Previous experience in the diagnosis and management of benign hematologic conditions is highly desirable.
