Licensed Practical Nurse - Compensation Range: $29.85 / Hourly. Additional compensation available for evening, weekend, and extra shifts.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrates understanding and proper implementation of established protocols and procedures.
Contributes to the formulation of nursing care plans.
Monitors and assesses residents' health conditions, relaying significant observations to the registered nurse.
Safely executes therapeutic and preventive nursing tasks under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Adheres to the established care plan.
Engages in quality assurance initiatives and infection control as required.
Under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, assists in overseeing non-professional nursing personnel.
Familiarizes self with all medication policies and procedures.
Administers medications according to established guidelines.
Replenishes medications following pharmacy protocols.
Possesses knowledge of potential effects of administered medications.
Observes residents for medication reactions, documenting and reporting effectiveness.
Adheres to established documentation protocols.
Completes exception reports and bowel records at the end of shifts; communicates any outstanding issues.
Understands documentation requirements specific to MDS and resident needs.
Utilizes supplies efficiently, monitoring usage regularly.
Reports unsafe conditions to the Registered Nurse promptly.
Documents all incidents and accidents according to policy.
Familiarizes self with established emergency protocols.
Treats all individuals encountered with courtesy and respect.
Addresses residents by name.
Responds to resident requests in a timely manner.
Refers issues or concerns to the Registered Nurse Manager or designated supervisor.
Assists in orienting new nursing staff on the unit.
Communicates with other team leaders or nursing leadership upon leaving the unit.
Ensures residents attend scheduled activities and therapies punctually.
As needed, provides support to meet staffing requirements within the nursing department.
Adheres to dress code as per facility policies.
Offers assistance to colleagues as necessary.
Responds to call lights and unit phone in the absence of the unit secretary.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Current New York State practical nurse licensure.
Minimum of one year clinical experience, preferably in geriatric care.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Possesses effective interpersonal and communication abilities, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to change.
Ability to interact courteously and tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, vendors, and the general public.
Adult CPR Certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Performing the duties of this position requires lifting, bending, walking, and standing.

Must be capable of occasionally lifting loads up to 50 pounds without assistance, and the ability to sit, talk, and hear is essential.

Specific vision capabilities required for this role include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

The majority of essential job functions are performed indoors, as well as in resident areas where universal precautions are applicable.

Employee may experience fluctuations in indoor temperatures.

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIP:
The work is conducted within established guidelines and requires periodic oversight.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR OTHERS:
The employee holds no direct responsibility for others.
