Job Title: CMT Lab Technician

Atlas is a leading provider of civil engineering, materials testing, and geotechnical consulting services. We are seeking a highly skilled CMT Lab Technician to join our team in Portland, OR.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized individual to perform laboratory tests on construction materials, including soil, concrete, and asphalt. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of materials testing procedures and be able to analyze test results to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare samples of construction materials for laboratory testing, following standard procedures.
  • Conduct laboratory tests, including Atterberg limits, grain size analysis, Proctor compaction tests, and concrete compression testing.
  • Utilize testing equipment, such as ovens, sieves, compaction molds, and testing machines, to analyze material properties.
  • Record test data accurately and maintain detailed logs of all testing activities.
  • Analyze test results to assess material properties, such as strength, durability, density, and moisture content.
  • Compare test results against project specifications and industry standards to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all test results, samples, and correspondence related to testing activities.
  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure it is functioning correctly and within specified tolerances.
  • Implement corrective actions for any identified non-conformances or testing irregularities.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Construction Materials Testing, quality control, or a related field.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate or bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Work independently with limited supervision.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant certifications, such as ACI Lab Testing Technician or NICET in Construction Materials Testing.
  • Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, and trade practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare detailed reports and effectively communicate findings.
Compensation and Benefits:

Atlas offers a competitive hourly rate of $25-$35, depending on experience. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, as well as paid time off and holidays.
