About the Role

Amergis is seeking a skilled Surgical First Assistant to join our team. As a Surgical First Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing aid to surgeons during operations, ensuring the best possible outcomes for patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons with patient positioning, exposure, and hemostasis during operations
  • Utilize specialized equipment to aid in patient positioning and visualization of the operative site
  • Collaborate with surgeons to select appropriate techniques and instrumentation for each procedure
  • Assist with closure of body planes and selection of wound dressings
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the surgical team
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Graduation from an accredited surgical assistant program with current certification/credential
  • Compliance with all relevant professional standards of practice
  • Participation in Amergis' Competency program (when applicable)
  • Current CPR certification (if applicable)
  • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray (if applicable)
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
  • Meet all federal, state, and local requirements
  • Successful completion of new hire training (as applicable to the job site)
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in the English language
  • Computer proficiency
  • Age 18 or older
