Job Summary:

As an Oncology Nurse Specialist at the University of Texas at Tyler, you will be a competent clinician, knowledgeable and skilled in the specialty area of oncology. You will be a contributing member of the interdisciplinary team, practicing in a predominantly interdependent decision-making environment. Your practice will be characterized by problem-focused, patient-centered care, with the ability to manage unexpected or emergency situations commonly seen in the assigned specialty population.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to the Mission, Vision, and Values of the University of Texas at Tyler.
  • Perform technical procedures and skills in the specialty area of oncology, including the administration of medications and treatments specific to cancer care.
  • Provide flexibility and willingness to cover in other clinics as needed.
  • Accountable for the identification and reduction of unsafe practices that could cause harm to patients.
  • Responsible for acquiring working knowledge of and maintaining ongoing understanding of required practices, procedures, and processes to meet and exceed regulatory compliance standards.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited Registered Nurse program.
  • RN with clinical experience in the area of oncology preferred.
  • RN with experience in a clinic setting preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a current RN license to practice in Texas.
  • Must possess and maintain current CPR Healthcare Provider certification.
  • OCN certification and Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy certificate of added qualification preferred at hire. Mandatory within 12 months of eligibility.
