About the Position

Fitzgibbon Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Certified Dietary Manager to join our Nutritional Services team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of food service and patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Guidance: Provide leadership and guidance to ensure that food quality, safety standards, and client expectations are satisfactorily met.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain records of department personnel, income and expenditures, food, supplies, inventory levels, and equipment.
  • Menu Planning: Participate in menu planning, including responding to patient's preferences, substitution lists, therapeutic diets, and product availability and industry trends.
  • Food Quality Control: Inspect meals and assure that standards for appearance, palatability, temperature, and serving times are met.
  • Special Diets: Manage the preparation and service of special nourishments and supplemental feedings.
  • Food Safety and Sanitation: Manage staff to ensure compliance with safety and sanitation regulations including safe receiving, storage, preparation, and service of food.
  • Physical Facilities: Manage physical facilities to ensure compliance with federal and state food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Prepare cleaning schedules and maintain equipment to ensure food safety.
  • Diet Orders: Process new diet orders and diet changes; keep diet cards updated.
  • Nutrition Assessment: Complete the assigned MDS section according to required timeline.
  • Patient Interviews: Interview patients to determine diet needs, calculate nutrition intake and develop appropriate dietary plans in cooperation with RDN and in compliance with physicians' orders.
  • Plan of Care: Review plan of care related to nutritional status; document concerns that can be resolved, improved, or addressed to improve client's nutritional status and eating function.
  • Education and Training: Use evidence-based educational materials to teach patients and staff about basic diet information.
  • Team Support: Support Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and Nutritional Services Director as needed.
  • Department Management: Manage food service department budget, implement cost-effective procedures, and manage revenue-generating services.
  • Purchasing and Inventory: Use forecasts, food waste records, inventory, and equipment records to plan the purchase of food, supplies, and equipment. Assist in purchasing process.
  • Communication: Work cooperatively with patients, staff, physicians, consultants, vendors, and other service providers.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Experience: Food Service experience
  • Skills: Good communication skills
  • Physical Demands: Frequently standing, walking and lifting/carrying 20-45 lbs.
