Role Overview

The Assistant Project Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Project Manager throughout all stages of contract execution at a Government Commissary location.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assists in managing operations and personnel to guarantee effective and profitable execution of all contractual obligations, adhering to established timelines and budgetary constraints.
  2. Under the supervision of the Project Manager, and in their absence, exercises independent judgment within the framework of government contract stipulations, implementing company policies and objectives that influence operational activities.
  3. Oversees and guides department supervisors and staff, including client workers.
  4. Provides training to employees relevant to their roles, focusing on specific government regulations and standards.
  5. Ensures that all tasks performed align with government Performance Work Standards and Task Analyses.
  6. Establishes a Quality Assurance System to offer constructive feedback to subordinate staff and senior management.
  7. Completes all reporting obligations promptly.
  8. Conducts performance inspections alongside government representatives, initiating corrective measures as necessary.
  9. Promptly informs supervisors of any deficiencies identified by government inspectors.
  10. Maintains comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of contract requirements.
  11. Fosters collaborative working relationships with government officials and participates in management meetings as requested.
  12. Immediately notifies the Project Manager of any government-directed changes in contract specifications.

Supervisory Duties

  • This position supervises a team of 10-25 staff members.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of supervisory experience.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
  • An Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical institution is preferred.
