Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Construction Estimator to join our team at KDC Construction. As a key member of our preconstruction team, you will be responsible for preparing bids and proposals, determining project costs, and providing preconstruction oversight.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage the estimating process, including subcontractor prequalification, bid evaluation, and award.
  2. Assume overall responsibility for the preconstruction stage of each project and provide preconstruction oversight.
  3. Identify tasks to be accomplished to satisfy contractual requirements.
  4. Prepare budgets and estimates for all stages of construction design, from concept to final construction stages.
  5. Coordinate pre-construction stages to identify trades for solicitation and select subcontractors.
  6. Coordinate with the departmental team to ensure each member knows their responsibilities and deadlines.
  7. Demonstrate proficiency in scheduling complete preconstruction efforts, including estimating milestones and durations.
  8. Develop and write all bid packages and subcontractor scope of work.
  9. Perform value engineering and life-cycle costing.
  10. Establish and foster positive long-term relationships with business partners, including owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
  11. Provide clients with accurate estimates, qualifications, and value engineering.
  12. Ability to adapt to different strategies and complete various types of bids, including complex bids, negotiated bids, and budgetary proposals.
  13. Mentor junior estimators and administrators on the preconstruction process.
  14. Responsible for working safely and supporting all Company safety efforts.
Requirements
  1. 5 years of estimating experience in commercial construction.
  2. High school diploma or equivalent.
  3. Experience with projects in the retail, fast-casual dining, quick-service dining, and hospitality sectors is preferred.
  4. Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
  5. Strong communication skills for internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Ability to lead a project team.
  7. Ability to complete large projects and complex, competitive bid projects.
  8. Motivated team player with a strong work ethic and desire to learn.
  9. Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage multiple projects.
  10. Solid analytical, mathematics, and critical thinking skills.
  11. Proficient with computers and familiar with Microsoft Software Suite.
  12. Able to identify needs, remove barriers, and make things happen.
  13. Values diversity of ideas, opinions, and people.
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary/hourly range of $90,000 to $140,000 per year.
