Role Summary

In the capacity of a Process Improvement Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to oversee enhancements and modifications to manufacturing workflows and protocols within the industrial facility, aiming to establish optimal work methodologies. Your role will involve continuous assessment of production processes to pinpoint opportunities for enhancement, alongside planning, directing, and coordinating manufacturing operations by executing the following tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement effective ergonomic and safety measures throughout all aspects of the manufacturing process, equipment, and facilities.
  • Design, assess, and refine manufacturing techniques utilizing data collection, analytical evaluation, and practical experience.
  • Investigate and assess new technologies and methodologies to bolster manufacturing efficiency, productivity, cost reduction, and product quality.
  • Prepare Capital Cost Justifications for new product tooling, equipment, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Analyze and strategize workforce utilization, spatial requirements, and workflow, while designing equipment and workspace layouts for optimal efficiency.
  • Act as a member of the Product Development System (PDS) team, ensuring that Design for Manufacturability (DFM), tooling, and equipment requirements are addressed to facilitate efficient manufacturing processes and successful product launches.
  • Engage with suppliers to ascertain product specifications and coordinate the procurement of equipment, materials, or components, while evaluating products against established specifications and quality benchmarks.
  • Estimate production timelines, staffing needs, and associated costs to inform management decisions.
  • Collaborate with management, engineering, and other personnel regarding manufacturing capabilities, production timelines, and additional factors to streamline production processes.
  • Comprehend and apply Lean Manufacturing Principles such as Continuous Improvement, Blitzes, KanBan, Line Balancing, TPM, and Takt Time.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment with engineers, supervisors, and manufacturing staff, promoting company values such as Quality and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Work in close partnership with maintenance teams to troubleshoot issues as necessary and assist with equipment installation and setup.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience or training.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and other Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or regulatory guidelines.
  • Capable of drafting reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
  • Adept at presenting information and addressing inquiries from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Competent in mathematical concepts including probability, statistical inference, and the fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry.
  • Skilled in applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to real-world scenarios.
  • Proficient in problem definition, data collection, fact establishment, and drawing valid conclusions.
