Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Security Officer to join our team at Ocean County College. The successful candidate will be responsible for enforcing security practices, adhering to compliance guidelines, and ensuring the safety and security of our campus community.


Key Responsibilities

1. Enforce College security policies and procedures to ensure a safe and secure environment for students, employees, and visitors.

2. Patrol the campus on foot, bicycle, or vehicle to detect and prevent potential security threats.

3. Monitor safety equipment, including surveillance cameras and fire alarms, to ensure prompt response to emergencies.

4. Generate and maintain accurate documentation, including incident reports, and communicate with the Toms River Police Department as necessary.

5. Inspect and secure College facilities to detect potential fire, property damage, or other irregularities.

6. Identify the need to escort students, staff, and visitors within the boundaries of departmental policies.

7. Work in various College facilities, including offices, classrooms, and equipment rooms, which may have limited ventilation or be heavily congested.

8. Participate in annual CSA compliance training and adhere to the guidelines of the Campus Security Act when carrying out duties.

9. Perform related projects and initiatives as assigned.


Requirements

1. High school graduate or equivalent diploma.

2. One year of experience in security, military, or a related field, with a focus on monitoring property and providing safety.

3. Successful completion of an Ocean County College training program within 90 days, becoming certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED if not already certified.

4. Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting heavy weights, and transporting equipment up to 40 pounds.

5. Valid New Jersey Driver's License in good standing.


Preferred Qualifications

1. Two years of experience using fire alarms and surveillance equipment.

2. SORA certification.

3. One year of experience in safeguarding life and property, and traffic control.
