We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Representative Lead to join our team at Optum. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for greeting and welcoming patients, collecting demographic and financial data, and ensuring a smooth registration process.
Key Responsibilities- Greet and welcome patients in person, providing a positive and professional experience
- Collect and verify demographic and insurance information, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Check in or interview patients to complete necessary paperwork, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
- Direct patients to their appointments or procedures, ensuring timely and efficient care
- Use resources and tools to complete registration for complex accounts, resolving issues and concerns as needed
- Verify eligible and benefits information for payers, interpreting results and resolving billing issues
- Obtain cost information and explain it to patients, ensuring transparency and understanding
- Collect co-pays or deductibles, ensuring accurate and timely payment
- Assist and counsel patients with financial assistance programs, providing support and guidance
- Collaborate with leaders to ensure team operations are staffed and working effectively, identifying areas for improvement
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; 2+ years of revenue cycle or healthcare experience preferred
- Advanced level of proficiency with Excel and intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Ability to work 8-hour days, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend and on-call shifts
- Leadership experience and Epic experience a plus
This role requires consistent walking, standing, bending, and turning, with occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds. A valid driver's license is not required for this position.
