Psychiatric Social Health Specialist

NYC Health + Hospitals is a member facility of the New York City Health + Hospitals system, one of eleven acute care facilities within the City of New York. A 215-bed community hospital, NCBH specializes in women's and children's services. It also provides Behavioral Health acute and ambulatory care. Its busy outpatient department has led the way in community-based care delivered in a compassionate and culturally-appropriate manner. It's Labor and Delivery service safely brings more than 1,000 babies into the world each year.

Job Responsibilities- Observe patients' physical condition, mental state, and social behavior and report to the team leader or Nurse-in-charge.
- Provide individual nursing care for patients who are acutely ill, either physically or emotionally.
- Participate in planning and implementing an orientation program for new patients.
- Contribute to the development of a therapeutic ward environment.
- Implement after-care for patients being discharged from the psychiatric service.
- One year of satisfactory experience as described in Examples of Typical Tasks in a hospital, healthcare or medical facility.
- Ability to establish successful interpersonal relationships with patients and co-workers.
- Good knowledge of methods and procedures used in applying appropriate treatment.
- Ability to effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
