Japanese Bilingual Purchasing Director

Mutual Trading Co., Inc. has been a leading Japanese foodservice supplier for nearly 100 years, serving the needs of the early Japanese immigrant society in Southern California and now promoting Japanese foods worldwide.
Since 2011, our affiliate, Yamasho Inc., has provided a variety of restaurant items to our customers in Elk Grove, IL.
Job Description- We are seeking a highly skilled Purchasing Manager to develop and execute purchasing strategies to support our business objectives.
- The ideal candidate will negotiate with vendors for the best possible price and service guarantee.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in purchasing and a proven track record of success in negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships.
Essential Responsibilities- Negotiate with vendors to obtain the best possible price and service guarantee.
- Research and develop products to increase sales and revenue.
- Monitor and forecast upcoming demand and develop new supply sources as needed.
- Review inventory and investigate discrepancies.
- Manage and develop food safety programs for hazard analysis, sanitation, recall, etc.
- Oversee quality control and ensure compliance with government food safety standards and regulations.
- Coordinate with purchasing employees in other locations to negotiate discounts for bulk purchases and optimize efficiency.
- Recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff in the department.
- Oversee the daily workflow of the department and provide constructive and timely feedback, training, and coaching.
- Attend company events and functions outside of normal working hours.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
We offer a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $110,000 per year, based on experience, plus benefits including:

- Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant experience required.
- Business level English – read/write/speak/listen.
- Business level Japanese preferred.
- To have and maintain a clean driving record.
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Ability to adapt to frequent changes in assignments and workload.
- High school diploma required.
