    • Analyze and develop a consolidated supplier base to meet current and future needs of all purchased materials and services.
  • Manage Procurement Activities
    • Manage and facilitate all facets of procurement activities, including vendor evaluations, site audits, and continuous improvement processes for all suppliers.
  • Monitor Key Spending Trends
    • Understand and monitor key spending trends, cost drivers, market factors, geographic considerations, and strategic importance of critical commodities to implement appropriate sourcing strategies.
  • Develop Performance Metrics
    • Develop metrics, including external benchmarks, to monitor performance and enable data-driven decision making.
  • Manage Material Spend/Cost Reduction
    • Directly responsible and accountable for material spend/cost reduction, supplier performance, and inventory.
  • Partner with Other Functions
    • Partner and collaborate with other functions to support strategic goals for sourcing materials, equipment, and/or services.
  • Ensure Ethical Practices
    • Ensure ethical principles and standards of purchasing practices.
  • Manage Departmental Budgets
    • Develop, monitor, and control departmental operating and capital budgets.
  • Ensure Compliance with Regulations
    • Ensure department and purchasing practices comply with all applicable safety, regulatory, and quality system requirements.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement
    • Drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the procurement process by means of appropriate tools such as Lean Six Sigma.
  • Manage Supplier Contracts
    • Create and manage business unit processes around supplier contracts, supplier qualification, and engineering change approval process.
  • Stay Current with Industry Developments
    • Stay abreast of best practices, current/future policies and procedures, regulatory/trade requirements, and market dynamics appropriate to function.
Requirements for Consideration
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, materials management, production planning, or a combination of these in an equipment or heavy industry environment.
  • Global Experience
    • Experience in a global, multi-site organization is preferred.
  • Certifications
    • Sourcing/Procurement/Quality certification such as CPM, CPIM, CIRM, CQE preferred.
  • Leadership Skills
    • Practical knowledge of leading-edge procurement strategies and the business planning process; demonstrated ability to develop strategy, and successfully execute business plans.
  • Analytical Skills
    • Strong analytical skills including benchmarking, data collection, and trend analysis.
  • Process Improvement
    • Drive for continuous process and productivity improvement with experience in six sigma and lean initiatives.
  • Global Spend Management
    • Demonstrated success managing global spend in excess of $20M in support of multiple manufacturing and service nodes.
  • Material Savings
    • History of developing programs to deliver annual material savings above inflation, with a focus on leveraging low-cost regions.
  • Supply Chain Development
    • Experienced leading supply chain development, supplier negotiations, and cultivating successful relationships with internal and external customers.
  • New Supplier Development
    • Expertise in identifying and developing new suppliers to advance cost reduction and new product introduction cycle time initiatives.
  • Change Management
    • Proven track record as a champion of change management in procurement programs and business process re-engineering.
  • Leadership and Collaboration
    • Excellent leadership, collaboration, and communications skills; proven ability to lead, influence, and motivate others.
  • ERP Systems
    • Strong understanding of ERP systems and their operation; prior experience leading ERP implementation projects highly desired.
  • Business Acumen
    • Strong business acumen and a bias for action.
