Job Overview

Position Summary:
The role involves executing welding tasks on various products while adhering to the company's mission and financial goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct production welding and additional tasks as directed by the supervisor.
  • Create CJP, PJP, and fillet welds in all positions utilizing FCAW and SMAW welding techniques.
  • Execute CJP and PJP welds in 1G and 2G positions, and fillet welds in 1F and 2F positions using SAW-A and SAW-SA processes.
  • Operate various grinding equipment for extended durations.
  • Inspect finished products to guarantee quality and rectify any unacceptable areas.
  • Set up and operate mechanical and manual cutting tools effectively.
  • Utilize air carbon arc gouging equipment proficiently.
  • Set up and manage all welding apparatus competently.
  • Interpret shop drawings, prints, and welding symbols accurately.
  • Utilize standard and metric measuring tools effectively.
  • Assist in training and mentoring fellow welding staff.
  • Maintain equipment and workspace, identifying and addressing potential hazards.
  • Work independently while adhering to safety and professionalism.
  • Foster a positive work environment through effective communication with customers, colleagues, and supervisors.
  • Safely operate cranes and lifting devices, selecting appropriate rigging and material handling equipment.

Additional Duties:

  • Perform other job-related tasks as assigned, including cleaning and waste removal.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area and shop.
  • Comply with all internal documentation systems.
  • Work in a safe and conscientious manner.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Experience and/or training in welding, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Basic reading and mathematical skills are required.

Canam Bridges specializes in the design, manufacturing, and installation of steel bridges for major infrastructure projects across North America. Physical Requirements:
The position necessitates the ability to stand for extended periods, with occasional walking and sitting. Employees will engage in various physical activities, including lifting and carrying heavy objects (up to 60 lbs), climbing, crouching, kneeling, and bending. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.

Work Environment:
Employees may work near moving mechanical parts and machinery, in both indoor and outdoor settings, and may be exposed to fumes, airborne particulates, and other potential hazards. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be used at all times.
