Welder - Fabrication Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Welder to join our team at Canam Bridges. As a Welder, you will be responsible for conducting welding tasks on a variety of company products in line with the organizational mission, values, and financial goals of the department.
Key Responsibilities- Execute production welding and other assigned duties under the guidance of the supervisor;
- Create CJP, PJP, and fillet welds in ALL welding positions utilizing FCAW and SMAW welding techniques;
- Produce CJP, PJP welds in the 1G and 2G welding positions and be able to create fillet welds in the 1F and 2F welding positions using SAW-A and SAW-SA welding processes;
- Operate various grinding equipment for extended durations;
- Inspect products for quality, identifying and rectifying any defects;
- Set up and utilize mechanical and manual cutting devices effectively;
- Operate air carbon arc gouging equipment skillfully;
- Set up and operate all welding equipment proficiently;
- Interpret shop drawings, prints, and weld symbols accurately;
- Read and use standard and metric measuring tools;
- Assist in training activities and have the capacity to mentor other welding staff;
- Maintain equipment and work area, addressing potential hazards;
- Work independently and follow safety protocols diligently;
- Promote a positive work environment through professional and respectful interactions with colleagues, clients, and supervisors;
- Demonstrate safe and effective operation of cranes, lifting devices, rigging equipment, and other material handling tools.
- Perform miscellaneous tasks as instructed by the supervisor, including cleaning and maintaining the work area;
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the workplace on a daily basis;
- Adhere to internal documentation systems of Canam Bridges;
- Work in a safe and professional manner consistently.
- Preferably a high school diploma or GED equivalent;
- Experience or training in welding, or a comparable combination of education and experience;
- Basic proficiency in reading and mathematics.
The position requires continuous standing, occasional walking and sitting. It involves various physical activities including pushing, pulling, lifting heavy objects, climbing, crouching, kneeling, bending, and handling. It also includes repetitive movements and awkward body positions. Visual acuity needed for close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focusing.
Work EnvironmentThe work settings may involve proximity to moving machinery and mechanical parts, as well as exposure to diverse environmental conditions. Potential exposure to fumes, airborne particulates, electric shock, UV radiation, open flames, sparks, and noise. Hearing protection and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) are mandatory.
