Job Overview
The Healthcare Network Solutions Consultant plays a pivotal role in delivering technical assistance, training, and troubleshooting for Sound United clients in their designated territories. This position may involve occasional travel to other areas and providing remote support. Key responsibilities include conducting Proof of Concepts, supporting major accounts, and enhancing automation solutions in healthcare settings. Depending on scheduling, the consultant may also oversee the installation of network-based patient monitoring systems and other technologies utilizing LAN/WAN, WLAN, and VLAN configurations in diverse hospital environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate presales proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives.
- Develop and implement service sales strategies.
- Assist with product sales and proposals as needed.
- Identify potential training challenges for customers and suggest solutions.
- Act as the customer advocate for all service-related matters concerning Hospital Automation Solutions.
- Provide comprehensive technical expertise on supplied systems and participate in technical training sessions.
- Ensure resolution of product and training issues to achieve overall customer satisfaction.
- Troubleshoot and support system-related problems.
- Respond to inquiries from key accounts and end users via phone and email.
- Document all complaints and failures in accordance with the Sound United Quality System.
- Initiate repair or replacement processes for defective products.
- Relay field information regarding product enhancements and suggestions to Product Marketing.
- Plan and execute the installation of networked systems.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to install and test systems.
- Provide recommendations and planning for project installations, including quotes, wireless site surveys, and WLAN/LAN performance evaluations.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of products and contribute to the development of new concepts and principles to improve product design.
- Conduct training sessions for Biomed/IT personnel on Sound United systems.
- Address complex problems that may require innovative solutions.
- Utilize sound judgment within broad policies to achieve established goals while remaining adaptable to changes.
- Serve as a principal technical contact for customers, interacting with various levels of company and customer staff.
- Provide additional support to the Tech Support team as necessary.
- Be prepared to work in hospital environments.
- Availability for frequent domestic travel is essential, sometimes with little notice for key account support.
- Occasional international travel may be required.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 45 pounds of tools and equipment during travel.
Minimum Qualifications
- A minimum of three years of experience in Enterprise networking.
- Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP networking protocols in an Enterprise context.
- In-depth understanding of IEEE wireless standards.
- Experience conducting wireless site surveys.
- Familiarity with spectrum analysis.
- Comprehensive knowledge of networking terminology and concepts.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for networked systems.
- Working knowledge of VPN configurations.
- Proven self-starter with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong hands-on skills with a focus on detail-oriented tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows operating systems.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Strong multitasking capabilities.
- Demonstrated technical writing skills with good organizational abilities.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five or more years of experience in Enterprise networking.
- Familiarity with AirMagnet, Ekahau, or similar site survey software.
- Knowledge of Linux operating systems.
- Understanding of medical terminology and concepts.
- Experience in medical or biomedical fields.
Education
A CCNA or equivalent certification is preferred. CWNA or equivalent certification is also preferred.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
This role primarily operates in hospital and similar environments, including patient rooms and data centers. It requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, and lifting. Team members must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Daily use of computers and other digital devices is essential. Extended periods of standing or sitting may be necessary during installations, configurations, troubleshooting, or meetings. Frequent local and domestic travel is required, necessitating a valid driver's license. Occasional international travel may also be necessary, requiring the ability to obtain a valid passport.
