We are seeking a highly qualified and innovative scholar to join our Department of Asian American Studies as a tenure-track assistant professor. The successful candidate will have a strong research and teaching profile in the area of war and critical militarisms, with a focus on settler colonialism and empire. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in a relevant field and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching the undergraduate level curriculum in Asian American Studies.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to teach a range of courses, including lower and upper division undergraduate courses on critical militarisms, the transpacific, indigenous studies, state-sanctioned anti-Asian violence, Filipinx studies, SWANA studies, and/or community engaged social justice projects. The candidate will also be expected to contribute to the department's research and service missions, including participating in departmental and university-wide initiatives and collaborations.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a relevant field. The successful candidate will have a strong publication profile or a strong promise of scholarly productivity, as well as a strong commitment to excellence in teaching. The candidate should also demonstrate a commitment to departmental and university collaboration, as appropriate to rank.

The Department of Asian American Studies is an interdisciplinary community of scholars that spans the social sciences, humanities, and arts. We offer an undergraduate major and minor, and our faculty collaborate broadly with various centers and institutes on- and off-campus focused on community-engaged approaches to manifest and promote social justice.
