The Animal Care Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring a clean, safe, and healthy environment for all animals in our care.
1. Maintaining cleanliness throughout the facility, including kennels, treatment areas, and outdoor spaces.
2. Providing meals for hospitalized and boarding animals.
3. Observing and documenting key information regarding the animals' health, behavior, and habits (such as eating and elimination).
4. Walking animals multiple times throughout the day.
5. Alerting the Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician of any unusual medical or behavioral issues.
6. Ensuring daily sanitation of treatment, examination, surgical, and laboratory areas.
7. Managing laundry duties and keeping the laundry area organized.
8. Assisting the Veterinarian and Veterinary Assistants with animal handling and treatment.
9. Keeping track of kennel supplies, including food and cleaning materials.
Additional responsibilities may include supporting the Veterinarian, Receptionist, and Veterinary Technicians/Assistants to ensure smooth clinic operations and excellent client service.
Qualifications and Skills:
• High School diploma or GED is preferred.
• Availability for a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to handle stressful situations effectively.
• Physical and mental capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to lift over 50 lbs.
• Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous.
