Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Engineer I to join our team at the County of Delaware, OH. As a key member of our engineering services team, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper planning, design, installation, and maintenance of sanitary and solid waste services in Delaware County.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect infrastructure improvements and assist with construction administration
  • Review engineering plans and bid specifications for accuracy and completeness
  • Interact with the public, developers, contractors, and consulting engineers to identify facility and infrastructure locations, improvements, and accessibility
  • Apply critical thinking skills to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make sound judgments
  • Attend meetings related to division functions
  • Perform engineering calculations and design
  • Conduct planning studies for new and existing facilities and infrastructure
  • Supervise functional activities and support personnel as required
  • Commit to and provide assistance in achieving division goals on a daily and yearly basis in a timely and productive manner
  • Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance
  • Attend training sessions, video conferences, and workshops
  • Hold confidential all aspects of the job
  • Perform typing, word processing, and related computer operations
  • Work overtime and outside of typical work schedule/business hours as required
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • Passed the Engineering Fundamentals Exam and registered as an Engineer-Intern in the State of Ohio
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License and an acceptable driving record
  • Meet and maintain qualifications for driving on county business at all times
