Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Practice Provider to join our team at Duke Health's Hematology Clinic. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will work closely with attending physicians to provide high-quality patient care, collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and order laboratory studies and professional consultations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care.
  • Educate patients and families regarding disease states and treatment regimens, including the known risks and benefits of treatment applications.
  • Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record the data in the patient's record; write progress patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings.
  • Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
  • Carry out therapeutic procedures such as percutaneous bone marrow aspirations and biopsies; monitor progress of patients, report progress to supervising physician, and maintain record of each patient's progress.
Requirements
  • Nurse Practitioners: Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program, with a Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of hematology APP experience.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday, day shift, with flexibility to meet clinic needs.
