About the Role

Duke Health is seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Cardiac Stepdown Advanced Practice Provider to join our team. As a key member of our pediatric critical care medicine team, you will provide direct patient care services for critically ill pediatric patients aged 0-21 with acute, complex, and chronic illness across a variety of care settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Expertise: Collaborate with attending physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for patients on the pediatric critical care medicine service.
  • Education and Training: Assess educational needs of patients, families, and healthcare staff, and provide culturally-sensitive patient and family education interventions as needed.
  • Research and Quality Improvement: Utilize current research and evidence-based decision-making in all clinical practice, and participate in interdisciplinary quality improvement and research activities.
  • Consultation and Leadership: Provide expertise and resource information to other healthcare providers, patients, and families, and participate in professional organizations to enhance the body of knowledge in pediatric critical care medicine.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of a Master's or Doctoral Degree in a Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
  • Licensure: Current unrestricted RN license or medical license issued by the North Carolina Board of Nursing or North Carolina Medical Board.
  • Certification: PNP-AC or PA-C certification.
  • Experience: Prior experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in a pediatric acute care clinical setting, preferably with a cardiac-specific background.
