Position Overview
Under the supervision of the laboratory manager and medical director, the Echocardiography Specialist conducts all echocardiography laboratory examinations. This role is pivotal in delivering exceptional patient care utilizing advanced physiological and ultrasound technology.
Assists with clinical rotations in both inpatient and outpatient environments as required and engages in after-hours and on-call services.

Key Responsibilities
- Conducts various echocardiography modalities (including 2-D, M-Mode, Doppler, and color flow Doppler imaging) and assists qualified physicians with TEE procedures. Utilizes independent judgment during examinations to accurately identify normal and abnormal findings. Adheres to IAC-approved scanning protocols and employs Smart Protocols whenever feasible. Reviews images and documentation to ensure comprehensive and quality examinations are prepared for physician review. (75%)
- Rotates among multiple laboratory locations as scheduled and required by the IAC. Contributes to daily operations by monitoring the sonographer worklist to ensure timely patient care. Coordinates exam scheduling through the transport system if applicable. Participates in after-hours, on-call, weekend, and holiday schedules. (10%)
- Operates all laboratory testing equipment and software, including ultrasound and physiological devices, EMR, Structured Reporting, and PACS. Proficient in using telecommunication devices, printers, and fax machines. Reports equipment malfunctions to the appropriate personnel and removes faulty equipment from service. Maintains cleanliness of equipment and workspaces daily and ensures rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and linens. Keeps maintenance logs updated, including monthly cleaning and equipment downtime records. (10%)
- Attends departmental meetings and educational conferences, actively participating in discussions. Stays informed about advancements in the field and assists in gathering data, images, and relevant articles as needed. (5%)

Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree - Graduate of an accredited Radiology or Sonography program.
- At least 1 year of experience in echo sonography performing non-invasive cardiac ultrasound studies. Clinical rotations during formal education may be considered as experience.
In lieu of the above educational and experience requirements, 5 years of dedicated cardiac ultrasound experience may be accepted.
Team members in this role as of a specified date are exempt from the minimum requirements outlined above. Additionally, may be exempt from obtaining required registration pending state and regulatory mandates.

ARDMS- RDCS or CCI(RCS)
Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Comprehensive understanding of vascular anatomy and hemodynamics
Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred
Basic computer proficiency
Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)
Proficient computer skills (word processing)
