Position Overview
As a vital member of our healthcare team, the Echocardiography Specialist operates under the guidance of the lab manager and medical director to conduct comprehensive echocardiography examinations. This role emphasizes exceptional patient care while utilizing advanced ultrasound and physiological equipment.
Key Responsibilities
1. **Echocardiography Procedures**: Execute a variety of echocardiography modalities, including 2-D, M-Mode, Doppler, and color flow Doppler imaging. Collaborate with qualified physicians during TEE procedures, employing independent judgment to distinguish between normal and abnormal findings.
2. **Quality Assurance**: Ensure all exams adhere to IAC approved scanning protocols, reviewing images and documentation for thoroughness and accuracy before submission to interpreting physicians. 75%
3. **Operational Support**: Rotate through multiple lab locations as required, managing daily workflows to guarantee timely patient care. Schedule exams and participate in after-hours, on-call, weekend, and holiday services. 10%
4. **Equipment Management**: Operate and maintain all lab testing equipment, ensuring cleanliness and functionality. Report any equipment malfunctions and maintain detailed logs of maintenance and cleaning activities. 10%
5. **Professional Development**: Attend departmental meetings and educational conferences, contributing to discussions and staying updated on advancements in the field. 5%
Qualifications
- Associate's degree from an accredited Radiology or Sonography program.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in echocardiography, with consideration for clinical rotations during formal education.
- In lieu of formal education, 5 years of dedicated cardiac ultrasound experience may be accepted.
Certifications Required
- ARDMS - RDCS or CCI (RCS)
Essential Skills
- Comprehensive understanding of vascular anatomy and hemodynamics.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and basic computer skills.
- Proficient in using office equipment and software for documentation.
