Job Title: Per Diem/PRN Float Ultrasound Technologist

We are seeking a skilled Per Diem/PRN Float Ultrasound Technologist to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Per Diem/PRN Float Ultrasound Technologist, you will be responsible for performing general, vascular, and cardiac ultrasound procedures, ensuring accurate and high-quality images. Your expertise will be utilized to differentiate between normal and pathologic findings, and you will be expected to maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with patients and caregivers.

Responsibilities:
  • Competently operate ultrasound equipment to perform general, vascular, and cardiac procedures/studies.
  • Accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
  • Review patient medical records to obtain necessary clinical information.
  • Position patients and select proper transducers and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures.
  • Adjust factors to attain the appropriate images.
  • Ensure safety, mental, and physical comfort of patients.
  • Maintain records in accordance with various regulatory agencies.
  • Enter patient and study information into the radiology information system.
  • Document billing codes of procedures performed.
  • Analyze sonograms and communicate findings to physicians.
Requirements:
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) needs to be obtained within 3 months.
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) needs to be obtained within 3 months.
  • Vascular Technologist (RVT) registration issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) needs to be obtained within 3 months.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Sonography.
  • Competency in all general and/or vascular sonographic procedures routinely performed in the hiring department.
  • Ability to use independent judgment to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
Work Environment:

This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, and twist throughout the workday. The incumbent must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. The incumbent must also be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.

The incumbent may be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
