Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Elementary School Paraprofessional (Special Education) to join our dynamic team at Providence Hall Charter School. As an Elementary School Paraprofessional (Special Education), you will provide instructional, behavioral, and other support to special education students in the classroom or other areas of the campus, including one-on-one support.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare the classroom to promote a healthy and safe learning environment for assigned students.
  • Ensure classroom safety guidelines are met at all times.
  • Utilize various techniques to be successful with managing assigned students.
  • Engage with assigned students to enhance and encourage learning.
  • Assist teachers in modifying materials to meet specific needs of assigned students.
  • Provide basic caregiving duties, support, and encouragement in all aspects of development of assigned students.
  • Take necessary precautions to protect assigned students.
  • Monitor assigned students in the classroom to minimize distractions and disruptions.
  • Assist students with personal hygiene, diapering/toileting, feeding, etc. as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support the special education department and school in general.
  • Maintain effective communication channels to ensure a collaborative school community.
  • Actively participate in assigned meetings, professional developments, and other trainings.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working with children, especially those with special needs, in an instructional setting preferred.
  • Good organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Positive interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to maintain calm in high-stress situations.
  • Willing to effectively problem-solve as needed.
  • Basic knowledge of Google Workspace and its collaboration tools.
  • Capacity to perform all the responsibilities listed in this posting.
  • Must pass a comprehensive background check, including criminal history, and professional references as a condition of employment.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds, traverse school facility, and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.
