Fashion Merchandising Instructor Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a qualified Fashion Merchandising Instructor to join our team at Mt. San Antonio College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching lectures courses on campus, issuing weekly in-class and homework assignments to students, and grading these assignments outside of class sessions.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach lectures courses on campus
  • Issue weekly in-class and homework assignments to students and grade these assignments outside of class sessions
  • Respond to emails and inquiries as per contractual requirements
  • Conduct office hours and fulfill all contractual required duties associated with the assignment
  • Utilize campus and classroom technology, including classroom computers and related equipment
  • Prepare all course materials, handouts, weekly student homework assignments, grade assignments, and other required materials outside of class sessions
  • Be culturally responsive in interactions with a wide variety of diverse individuals, including students, faculty, staff, and community members
  • Perform tasks needed for student records, such as submitting grades on time to admissions and records
  • Maintain required student attendance and scholastic records

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience, or an associate degree and six years of professional experience (degree must be awarded/conferred from a regionally accredited institution)
  • Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master's degree
  • Commitment to the community college goals/objectives of providing quality programs and services for students with diverse abilities and interests
  • Personal qualities to work effectively and sensitively in a multicultural environment
  • Awareness and commitment to the special needs of non-traditional students

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Communicate effectively to students orally and in writing
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office and office technology to develop assignments, presentations, and other course items
  • Have strong writing skills to help students understand how to compose and grade papers as per higher education standards

Working Conditions:

The person holding this position is required to be present on Mt. San Antonio College's campus to perform all essential duties and responsibilities.
