Department: Operating Room

Reports to: Operating Room Nurse Manager

Employment Type: Full-Time - Hourly

Compensation: Competitive hourly wage based on experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure safe patient care during surgical operations.
  • Prepare and organize sterile supplies and instruments for surgical procedures.
  • Maintain a sterile environment by handling surgical instruments and supplies appropriately.
  • Manage contaminated materials to reduce occupational risks.
  • Set up operating rooms according to physician preferences to enhance workflow.
  • Safeguard patient privacy and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist during surgical and postoperative tasks as required.
  • Communicate effectively with the surgical team and other healthcare professionals.
  • Stay updated on advancements in orthopedic surgical technology and engage in continuous education and training.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of human anatomy, surgical instruments, and sterilization methods.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills and maintain sterility to ensure patient safety through sound judgment and aseptic techniques.

Technical Skills:

  • Understanding of human anatomy and physiology.
  • Knowledge of surgical instruments and their applications.
  • Ability to maintain organization in preparing and sustaining sterile fields.
  • Proficiency in maintaining sterility and addressing any breaches.
  • Effective communication of surgical activities.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical information.
  • Completion of instrument decontamination and sterilization processes.
  • Commitment to patient safety through rational thought and aseptic practices.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
  • Current Colorado CST and BCLS certification required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in an operating room setting.
  • Previous experience in an ambulatory surgery environment is preferred.
